Clinic Profile: Animal Medical Center of Wyoming

With 13 doctors on staff, Animal Medical Center of Wyoming (AMC) is the largest animal clinic in Wyoming—and Campbell County has been very lucky to have this facility in our community for 22 years.

AMC’s goal is simple: they want to make a difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them.

“We are our community – in fact two of our owners and many of our staff were born in this community, so we believe strongly in supporting the community that supports our clinic,” says Stasi Shippy, AMC Patient Care Coordinator.

Many of you may not know, but AMC gives extensively to community events such as 4-H, various rodeos, and youth activities. The clinic also supports the City of Gillette/Campbell County Animal Shelter by sponsoring pet adoption ads and by providing 250+ reduced cost spays and neuters, coordinated through the shelter. They are also supporters of Fur Kids Foundation and the Gillette Dog Owners Group. In fact, the staff at AMC was quite helpful when Fur Kids Foundation board members first discussed creating the Foundation.

While community involvement definitely contributes to keeping this facility bustling, Stasi also believes that the doctors’ commitment to their patients and the team environment keep their clients coming back.

“Because we have such a large team, we can offer our clients a range of doctors with extensive experience as well as the latest information to support each doctor in their efforts to care for your pet,” she says.

Services AMC offers the community range from cardiology and dentistry to surgery (endoscopic, general, oral and orthopedic) and nutrition/weight management, as well as 24/7 emergency care, behavioral counseling, boarding, and grooming, among others. And top-notch customer service is a standard at the Clinic, adds Stasi.

“Our staff is acutely aware of how pets are reacting in the clinic environment, and we try to go the extra mile to help pets feel good while here. Any number of things are done to make our patients comfortable such as providing blankets, taking dogs out for extra walks, and taking the time to hold and pet animals. On a more personal level, many of the vets and technicians share our own stories about our pets, grieve with our clients in the bad times and celebrate their unique pets’ personalities every chance we get,” she says.

The clinic also encourages “happy visits,” where clients can come in with their pets when they aren’t scheduled for a procedure or a vaccination. During this visit, the client will check in like normal, and may sit in a room with the veterinarian and other staff members while their pet is doted on—receives treats, pets, positive enforcement and much more. This “happy visit” can help alleviate the pet’s fear of being in the clinic in the future.

A fun technology the clinic offers is something called Petly—an online system that allows clients quick access to their pet’s health. Once registered, clients can view vaccination records, request an appointment or refill medications, get pet health tips, and see when their pet’s vaccinations are due. You can also purchase pet ID cards with their vaccination information on them to have with you at all times for a minimal fee. Having this information at your fingertips is handy for those who travel with their pets frequently.

Strong community supporters coupled with a broad range of services and customer service makes AMC a great veterinary provider in the community. Fur Kids Foundation is very happy to have AMC in our community and hope you are as well.

Animal Medical Center is located at 200 E. Lakeway Road in Gillette. Below is AMC’s contact information and where you can go to learn more about their services and staff.
