Cowboy
Fur Kids Foundation received a wonderful thank you letter from Cowboy's parents. Instead of summarizing the story, we wanted to share the letter with you.
On Friday night, October 18, 2013, I noticed that my cat, Cowboy, seemed to be in a lot of pain. He was crying a lot and did not want to jump up on the couch or do a lot of moving. At bedtime, Cowboy usually sleeps at my feet, and I noticed that he chose to sleep under the bed instead. I knew something was wrong at that point.
In the morning, I took Cowboy to the vet suspecting that he may have an obstructed urinary tract. Unfortunately, I was right about the diagnosis. An obstructed urinary tract is an immediate emergency and is fatal if a cat cannot pass the obstruction, or if they do not receive proper treatment, which costs around $700. Understandably, the vet clinic could not treat Cowboy without $200 down. At the time, my family didn't have the $200 to start proper treatment and wouldn't have the money within the next 24 hours. We decided to give him a shot of steroids and a shot of opiates to calm him and prayed he could pass the obstruction on his own. Luckily, the vet contacted Fur Kids Foundation for my family, and I received a phone call from the Foundation later that evening. We were approved for assistance on our vet bill and we were able to get Cowboy into the on-call vet Saturday night. |
Because Fur Kids Foundation contacted me, Cowboy's treatment was successful and he is still a part of our family! We got him to the vet in the nick of time. The other vets were surprised that Cowboy was still alive after seeing the results of his blood tests. He is one tough kitty!
Not only did the Fur Kids Foundation help pay for most of Cowboy's vet bills, they were also extremely caring and so friendly. I'm so thankful that such a Foundation exists because it helps keep families and their fur kids together. Fur Kids Foundation can only help families with animals who need assistance because of the support from businesses, donations by individuals (like you) and fundraisers. Please consider donating to our cause. |
