Mary Ellen Young
Mary Ellen Young is a long-time volunteer with Fur Kids Foundation, and as of January 2021, she currently sits as a Board Member. Mary Ellen gets a lot of joy from organizing the Spring and Holiday bazaars to raise money for FKF and to help local small business promote their wares.
Mary Ellen was born on a dairy farm in Mohicanville, Ohio, and moved with her family to Roscoe, Montana as a teenager. Mary has always had horses, dogs, cats, farm animals and bottle raised over 30 bum lambs one summer. Her early 20s landed her in California as a veterinary technician for small animals, birds and random animal “things” for about two years. Animals have always had a very important role in her life. Mary Ellen moved to Wyoming from Montana in 1979 to work as a uranium miner for Exxon Coal and Minerals. After the three-mile island fiasco, she was offered a job as a coal miner in Gillette and after 32 years retired her life as a miner. Her next nine years had her working for the State of Wyoming as the Executive Director for the Miner’s Hospital Board. After her retirement from office work, Mary Ellen keeps herself busy with her thriving CBD business for people and pets, Wyoming Warrior Wellness Zilis Products. Mary Ellen and her husband, David love to travel as much as money and time allows and looks forward to doing more of that in the future. She also loves to play with and walk her two rescued coonhounds. Scout a Bluetick and Annie a Black and Tan. They are her babies and live in the lap of luxury as the only two “kids” in the house.
