Odie
Meet Odie. On any given day, this 6-year-old Rat Terrier spends his days sleeping, sunbathing and chasing bouncy balls. His family also reports that he loves babies and dirty socks! However, a few weeks ago Odie's family noticed that anytime he tried to walk, he would limp on one of his legs.
"I thought maybe he just slept on it wrong and it would be fine in a few days. But, then a couple days later, anytime he tried to stand or walk he would cry out the saddest little cry," Odie's mom said. She knew something was really wrong when he couldn't make the stairs to their bedroom to hog the bed all night. "He couldn't get up the stairs or even stand. I didn't know what to do because I knew we didn't have the money for an emergency vet visit."
Odie's family had to wait until the morning, and it was clear that he was getting worse as each minute passed. She called her veterinarian early in the morning, and they told her to get Odie in quickly for some X-rays. Odie's family had heard about Fur Kids Foundation via Facebook, so they completed the online application and waited to hear from us. "They got back to me within an hour! It was the best news to hear that they were going to help Odie get better. Odie's vet appointment revealed that he had a slipped disc in his back, which was affecting one of his legs. The Foundation is very happy to report that Odie is feeling better, and slowing climbing the stairs to hog his parent's bed every night. "I am so incredibly thankful for Fur Kids helping my fur baby. My daughters love him so much and are so happy to see him back to his old self. Thank you so much!" |
