RHVH Spay/Neuter Special helps local families
Clinic donates $400 to Fur Kids Foundation
September 28, 2016—Gillette, WY--Today, Red Hills Veterinary Hospital (RHVH) donated $400 to Fur Kids Foundation to be used to help local families with pets with emergency veterinary costs.
Throughout the months of May-August, RHVH offered a $25-off special for all cat and dog spay and neuter procedures. With the special, RHVH was able to help more than 300 families—for a total of $7,575 saved in the community. Along with this special, RHVH asked their clients if they would pay it forward by donating to Fur Kids Foundation, which helped raise $120.
“Our community went through a big upheaval with all the layoffs in the Energy Industries, and we wanted to help fellow pet lovers make sure that their animals stayed healthy, as well as battle pet overpopulation,” says Dr. Garry Gotfredson, DVM. “This special made it possible for pet owners to be able to bring their pets in to get spayed or neutered, while receiving high-quality veterinary care. It also allowed us to continue to give back through Fur Kids Foundation from the donations we received while the special was running.”
But RHVH didn’t stop there! In September, at Gillette’s only all-day pet festival, Pet-A-Palooza, RHVH encourage additional donations from event goers at their booth, and raised another $280!
“We are very grateful for the continued support from Red Hills Veterinary Hospital,” says Mary Melaragno, Fur Kids Foundation president and founder. “This team of caring veterinary professionals has supported the Foundation since their doors opened, and we’re thrilled that their clients also believe that Fur Kids Foundation is a worthy cause. The Foundation will use this donation to continue its mission of saving lives, and keeping people and their pets together when the community needs it most.”
Fur Kids Foundation board members believe that one very important way to keep pets healthy is to spay and neuter them. Spaying helps female pets live a longer and healthier life. Neutering male pets helps to prevent aggression, roaming, urine marking, and a variety of other unwanted male behaviors. It also helps to prevent testicular cancer in male dogs. Spay or neuter your pet for a healthy and happy life.
