Can you imagine seeing your pet sick or injured and not knowing how you were going to take care of him?
Cedar's family can. Cedar's family began to notice some light bleeding off and on coming from her, and decided it was time to get her spayed. Because they had their own medical bills to pay down, they had to wait a couple of months before they had enough money ready for the procedure. However, when Cedar’s family brought her in for her procedure, they received news from the doctor that Cedar had to have an emergency surgery or she could quickly die from it. The routine spay, which they had money to cover, quickly turned into so much more. After the procedure, the family got Cedar home thinking she was going to be on the mend, only to find her incision had ripped open and there was a very large amount of blood everywhere. They then had to rush Cedar to a different vet clinic after hours. The doctor got an IV in her and fixed her incision and had to keep Cedar overnight to make sure she remained stable. This meant more bills.
Fur Kids Foundation was there with the family to help cover the costs. |
Hurk's family can also understand. Hurk was brought to the vet because he was losing weight and not acting like himself. After a few overnight stays and some tests, they learned that he had Addison's disease. The vet started Hurk on some medication to get his Addison’s disease under control, and the family turn to the Foundation to help get his bills under control. While Hurk's parents will need to continue to keep him on his medication, and monitor his health for the rest of his life, dogs with Addison’s disease can return to their favorite activities. Hurk came to see us at Pet-A-Palooza in September, and he's doing amazing.

While most families can cope with the financial commitment involved in the day to day care of their fur kids, there are times when a pet gets sick unexpectedly or when a family has fallen on hard times. This is when they can turn to Fur Kids Foundation for help. We work to help local families and their pets stay healthy 365 days of the year. Since September of 2012, the Foundation has been able to help more than 140 families in Campbell County, Wyoming - granting more than $20,600 in aid. The Fur Kids Foundation volunteer board works very hard to make sure the majority of the money we raise is used to help families with animals in need. We are very happy to report that in 2014, more than 78 percent of the funds we raised went to keeping local animals and their families healthy and happy.
Please help us continue to help families with pets like Cedar and Hurk. We have learned that the community in Campbell County, Wyoming is simply amazing and so supportive of our mission. We could not help the families that we have helped the last two years without your continued support.
