Jill Matson
Jill Matson has been a volunteer with Fur Kids Foundation since 2016 and a board member since November 2017. She helps out at fundraising events and also with organizing the events. She first learned about Fur Kids Foundation when she attended Pet A Palooza just weeks after loosing their 13 year old lab. She felt a connection with all of the fellow animal lovers and knew she wanted to become a volunteer. She has always loved animals and with a passion for helping others, joining Fur Kids was a great fit!
Jill currently has a dog named Jax, who was rescued through Oglala Pet Project in South Dakota, an organization that she also promotes and volunteers with when possible. She feels as though her dog is a family member rather than just a pet and likes to say she has two kids--one with two legs and one with four legs! She believes that the unconditional love and connection one has with their furry family members makes life complete! |
Jill is a South Dakota native. She graduated from Spearfish high school and Black Hills State University and also lived in Rapid City before moving to Gillette in 2000 with her husband. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology which she feels helps in making her an understanding and empathetic person. She has worked in customer service, Human Resources, and Title insurance. Jill has an interest in pet therapy and hopes to find a way to be involved in that one day.
She has been a stay-at-home Mom since her daughter was born 15 years ago and enjoys making her family the center of her world (and being a full time dog mom makes her happy too!). Jill describes herself as a tender-hearted, quiet introvert who enjoys the simple things in life. She likes spending time with family and friends, long walks with her dog, reading, art and DIY projects, drawing, photography, outdoor activities and loves time spent in the Black Hills.
Jill finds volunteer work very rewarding and likes to jump in and help wherever there is need. She looks forward to helping as many people and animals as possible with Fur Kids Foundation!
